Our Story, Mission & Values
Our Origin Story
Studio Boba was born from a passion for storytelling and a love for bringing characters to life through animation. Like the perfect blend of tea and tapioca pearls, we believe in combining traditional animation techniques with modern creative vision.
In the winter of 2022, five siblings, ages 5-12, founded Studio Boba with an idea and an iPad. This would lead to the creation of our first short film, lasting only about two minutes, called The Boba Tea Volcano. This sparked our love for animating, and we went on to make longer, more detailed short films and continue to improve our craft.
We believe that hand-drawn animation will never really be replaced by AI, and we strive to blend old techniques with new technologies, leading to our approach of hand-drawing each frame digitally.

Our Philosophy

When we first began creating animations, our aim was to create fun, adventurous, and feel-good short films that anyone could enjoy. We were inspired by the hand-drawn animated tales from Studio Ghibli and nostalgic early Disney films, and we wanted to explore that technique.
And so, what started out as an after-school club turned into a lifelong passion for animating and storytelling!
What Inspires Us
The inspiration for our projects comes from stories of our lives — travel adventures, family, our favorite anime (like Studio Ghibli films) delicious food, scenery and cozy moments dreaming up new tales.
We are passionate about art and hand-drawn digital animating - without using generative AI - bringing our stories to life and creating colorful worlds that we can share with you.
